Edith's Restaurant
PRICE:
Frommer's Exceptional
Prices may seem over-the-top and reservations hard to come by, but once you sit down at one of Edith Jiménez's cheerful tables, you will see you're not only paying for an exquisite meal, but also for the time of your life. Lanterns light the open-air way for highly trained waiters, and bouquets of fresh lilies always perfume the entrance and washrooms. No detail is overlooked and, without exception, everyone in the house is in full celebration mode. You will be, too, after a celestial pitcher of margaritas or a bottle from Edith's carefully stocked cellar. While the lobster, shrimp, seafood, and steak combinations are worth every last peso, the grilled tuna is beyond compare when it comes to quality and value. And if Mexican food is what you crave, both the Tampiqueña and the Pancho Villa offer a magnanimous sampling of some of Mexico's most prized traditional dishes, which are abundant enough for two, especially when kicked off with the squash-blossom quesadillas or a Caesar salad.
