A better burger you won't find anywhere -- be it the lamb with mint (referred to as the "baaa baaa" burger); the fish-of-the-day burger with mango, Peppadew, and coriander salsa; the "big bird" (ostrich with beetroot relish); or the "fat bastard" (double everything). All patties come with garlic aioli sauce, lettuce, tomato, caramelized onion, and cucumber, and your choice of chips, salad, or sweet-potato wedges (or all three). It's hip and trendy, and if you're lucky you'll be served by a Gwyneth Paltrow look-alike. Upstairs is another section, Royale Kitchen, which is a little more grown-up (only over-23s allowed) but still with the same exuberant atmosphere -- the decor is all done by Dina, the mama behind Royale. (Note that the success of the cafe has spawned a couple of wannabes -- Fat Alberts in Heritage Square, and the more upmarket Gourmet Burger on Long St. -- but I prefer the original.)
