It's charming, it's trendy, and it's a retreat with lots of attractive people and not a tourist in sight. "hush" is one of a number of outdoor restaurants in a cul-de-sac. The terrace outside on a summer day seats up to 60 and offers some of London's best alfresco dining. On the ground floor expect a chic decor with a combination of lightwood tables and limestone floors, the color provided by "warm" spice colors. The well-chosen menu features a traditional brasserie food -- in this case, such items as smoked haddock fishcakes, lobster and chips with garlic butter, and the "hush" hamburger, which some critics have hailed as "the best in London." Start with Andalusian gazpacho or a meze platter (a selection of Greek hors d'oeuvres). Such classic dishes are offered as sautéed calf's liver or Toulouse sausages with creamed potatoes and a mustard sauce. The desserts are hard to resist, especially the champagne jelly with mixed berries or the lemon cheesecake with raspberries.
