Even the most fashion-conscious residents of chic Notting Hill like a taste of the country every now and then, heading for this bit of a rural idyll. This gastro-pub is one of the finest in the area in both its service and choice of fresh ingredients deftly handled by a skilled kitchen staff. The food is above average, especially in its well-prepared steak and chicken dishes. Feast on such mains as a juicy pork chop flavored with cider and fresh tarragon, or an appetizer such as seared tuna carpaccio with wild arugula. For the whisky drinker, there are some rare vintages on the menu such as Springbank 1968, but a single shot would set you back £28 ($56).
