Celebrity chef Ken Hom is the chief exponent of Thai cookery in London, and even the Thai community agrees he's the best. Some of his culinary secrets are revealed in his book,
Foolproof Thai Cookery. At Canary Wharf, Sri Nam brings an authentic and very spicy (read: hot) cuisine to foodies who like to dine on the Thames. There's a buzz-filled cafe-bar on the ground floor and a more formal restaurant upstairs. The Thai cuisine served here is a fusion of modern and traditional, the latter in theory the type served to the "King of Siam." The classic star of the menu is
pad thai, a delightful stir-fry of noodles with eggs, vegetables, and bean sprouts, garnished with ground peanuts and fresh coriander. Also served here (and rarely seen on other London menus) is lamb masaman, flavored with peanuts and potatoes. The signature dish -- and is it ever good -- is the Thai green chicken curry with chiles, coconut milk, bamboo shoots, baby eggplant, and lime leaves.
