Donisl is Munich's oldest beer hall, dating from 1715. Readers have praised this Munich-style restaurant as gemütlich, with its relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, although the seating capacity is about 550. In summer, you can enjoy the hum and bustle of the Marienplatz by dining in the garden area out front. The restaurant has two levels, the second of which is a gallery. Most of the staff speaks English. The standard menu offers traditional Bavarian food as well as specials that change weekly. A specialty is Weisswurst, the little white sausage that has been a decades-long tradition of this place. The chef also prepares a good duck. Select beers from Munich's own Hacker-Pschorr Brewery to top the evening. A zither player at noon and an accordion player in the evening entertain diners.
