This tiny, charming, popular cafe deep in a residential neighborhood is a great find. As you can guess, it features barbecue, falling-off-the-bone meat properly dry rubbed, if topped with a too-overwhelming red sauce (perhaps ask for it on the side). Ribs and pulled pork are the best of the meats, which come with sides like solid mac n' cheese and mayo-drenched coleslaw. And there is even more to the menu, which is oddly extensive. Weekend brunch specials include biscuits, cheese grits, and elaborate egg dishes, which are just as fab as the barbecue. There is also a lengthy pizza menu, which is where the vegetarians in the group will find relief, plus daily specials including red beans and rice on Monday. Portions are large, so split orders to make matters cheaper still, and save room for desserts like homemade chocolate cake with thick peanut butter frosting.
