Just an adorable, friendly, charming French bistro -- a delightful neighborhood restaurant, and one that doesn't emphasize fried food (trust us, that's a combo that's hard to find in this town!). If you want to have a nice meal without the fuss and feathers, Degas should do the trick in terms of both food and atmosphere. The big tree in the dining room is still there, but a lovely outside tree came down in the storm. There are daily dinner and lunch specials -- think quiches and real, live salads (always a happy find in this town) and straightforward but flavorful fish and meat dishes, presented in generous portions. You can go light (a salad, a plate of pâtés and cheeses) or heavy (filet of beef tenderloin with a green peppercorn-brandy sauce) -- either way, you'll feel as if you ate something worthwhile. Though it's French, this is not France, and this bistro is informal enough that you can go wearing blue jeans.
