Extensive roof damage means the usual to-the-studs renovations, but Gautreau's, a classy "old timey" restaurant, succeeded in reopening with a new chef and a freshly redesigned menu that focuses on modern French cuisine. Here's the sort of thing you might have: the sweet mixed greens with pears, goat cheese, and a port vinaigrette -- a marvelous salad in a town not known for salads (we wish it were larger), and wild mushroom and potato perogies. Pork tenderloin comes wrapped in bacon, with sides of creamed corn and other not so much French as Southern touches.
