Sometimes you just need a burger -- particularly when you've been eating many things with sauce. Locals feel strongly that the half-pound monsters served at the cozy (and we mean it) Port of Call are the best in town. We are going to take a stand and say that, yes, they are certainly terrific, but all that meat may be too much of a good thing. The Port of Call is just a half step above a dive, but it's a convivial place with a nice staff that can get justly somewhat harried during busy hours. The brawny hamburgers come with an enormous baked potato (because you might not have gotten enough food), and there also are excellent filet mignon, rib-eye steaks, and New York strip steaks. Because businesspeople come here from all over the city, it's often jammed at regular eating hours, so try it before 7pm, when people who work in the Quarter begin to gather here. Note the helpfully late hours, and that they have their own signature drink, the Monsoon, a citrus-laden rum combo that is refreshing and unexpectedly potent.
