The Brick is loud and good-natured, Newport's favorite hangout. Families, tourists, working stiffs, and yachtsmen squeeze through the doors into the thronged dining rooms, the bar, and the terrace. Just so you know what you're getting into, the cab of a 1938 Chevy pickup truck is next to the soup-and-salad bar (there's another truck on the roof). Decor also incorporates kid-size vehicles, license plates, vintage photos, and a model train. The voluminous menu is pub grub squared: stuffed clams, Cajun catfish, nachos, burgers, pizzas, steaks, stuffies, meatloaf, and squid-ink spaghetti with cream, scallops, and crabmeat. Entrees include salad or the soup/salad/bread buffet plus potatoes and vegetables. Newport Storm Amber Ale is on draft.
