Just past Easton's Beach over the Newport/Middletown line, this old-timer is more than a lopsided strand-side shanty -- but not much more. Step up to the order window, choose from the handwritten menu, and receive a stone with a number painted on it. What you'll get, if you're wise, are clams, on a plate or on a roll. Cooked swiftly to order, they're as tender as any to which you might have set your teeth. This is also the place to sample "chowda" -- red, white, or clear -- and that Rhode Island specialty, stuffies. Clam cakes are inexplicably tasty, given the lack of clams therein. "Find a clam, get a prize," jokes the owner. The menu also suggests two hot dogs with a bottle of Moet for $50. Few patrons take that opportunity. Upstairs are a raw bar and deck even more happily ramshackle than below. Sunday features live music from 2 to 6pm.
