This delightful restaurant has been serving Richmond's best northern Italian cuisine since 1991. On the street floor is a small bar and seating at several additional tables for dinner, and during good weather, patrons vie for seats on a covered sidewalk patio. The owners of Amici (which means \"friends\" in Italian) hail from Cervinia, a resort in the Italian Alps, where they perfected their craft -- and perfection in the culinary arts is certainly what they have achieved here. The menu changes seasonally, but you might begin with grilled portobello mushroom caps with garlic, basil, and olive oil; and thin slices of veal loin with delicate tuna sauce. Among the entree highlights is a Black Angus tenderloin steak with a Gorgonzola cheese sauce. From the grill also come fresh salmon, Boston sole, jumbo shrimp and scallops, chicken breast, lamb chops, and bison. Stunning desserts include a wicked tiramisu. The wine list, with many Italian vintages, is surprisingly affordable.
