Appropriately, this dining-entertainment complex is in a former tobacco warehouse that's been converted to a sunny, plant-filled three-story atrium. It was a pioneer in Shockoe Slip's renaissance and still draws so many tourists and expense-account types that locals consider it a tourist trap. It's a fun place, nonetheless. An antique elevator carries you from the first-floor cocktail lounge to the two dining floors above. Nostalgic touches abound -- brass chandeliers, Tiffany-style lamps, a cigar-store Indian, even an old ticket booth that now serves as the hostess desk. Exposed-brick walls are festooned with antique collectors' items. Contemporary American cuisine is featured. Lunch specialties could be as light as a vegetarian burger or as hearty as crab cakes. At dinner, you might begin with crab croquets, and then move on to slow-roasted prime rib with seconds on the house. There's live music in The Club downstairs Tuesday through Saturday nights, with dancing Thursday through Saturday.
