Located in a historic log mansion (1920) 4 miles up Millcreek Canyon in the Wasatch National Forest (about 20 minutes from downtown), Log Haven has garnered a reputation as Salt Lake's most romantic restaurant. The seasonally changing menu is creative and diverse, with sushi, game, and more traditional fare -- steak and potatoes -- to be expected. On a recent visit, the menu included a Rocky Mountain elk chop with saffron-potato hash, chili-seared ahi tuna, and champagne risotto with seasonal vegetables. The waterfall- and view-laden property effortlessly blends rustic elements with elegant sensibilities while also maintaining a sense of history and pushing the culinary envelope, not an easy task. Plus, service is impeccable; full liquor service is available.
