Spencer's For Steaks and Chops

Frommer's Very Highly Recommended
This sophisticated steakhouse is the perfect spot to celebrate a special occasion, or to just sit back and enjoy a truly excellent steak. The handsome dining room is reminiscent of a library in a British lord's country home, with dark wood, tapestry-like wall coverings, historic photos, and intimate and comfortable booths. Beef is king here -- aged, well-marbled USDA prime beef that is simply and perfectly prepared. The New York strip, or the super-tender filet mignon come heartily recommended. Other dinner selections served a la carte include prime rib, grilled vegetable pasta, double-cut lamb chops, and fresh seafood. The lunch menu includes the same steaks, as well as burgers, chicken sandwiches, and entree salads such as Caesar with salmon. Spencer's is technically a private club, so you need to pay $4 for a temporary membership. It has an extensive list of wines and single malt Scotches, along with a selection of cigars.
