Among Utah's finest restaurants, The New Yorker maintains an air of quiet sophistication, with rich woods, understated elegance, excellent food, and impeccable service. From the continually evolving dinner menu, hope for the Maryland crab cakes, which are as good as -- or better than -- those you'll find anywhere; the certified Angus beef filet mignon with cabernet-mustard sauce or the roasted rack of American lamb. Lunch brings dishes such as deep-fried Gulf white shrimp, served with fries, coleslaw, and cocktail sauce; veal schnitzel with green peppercorns and lemon butter sauce; or sandwiches and salads. The less formal cafe serves scaled-down fare, such as a bacon-and-avocado burger, fried camembert and pear with red pepper jelly, and an excellent cobb salad. Full liquor service is available with a $4 membership.
