There's a lot about this woodsy-looking place that emulates an 18th-century pub in England, and, except for the (much-appreciated) air-conditioning, the Americanized menu, and the Southern accents of the staff, you might, for a moment or two, think you're in the U.K. It's always been popular as a centrally located neighborhood restaurant, but its main claim to fame comes from its inclusion as the set, several years ago, for a scene in Something to Talk About, when the character played by Julia Roberts (dressed in a nightgown) confronted the character played by Dennis Quaid about infidelity. As befits Savannah gossip, locals still talk about it. The bar offers 37 kinds of beer, 10 of them on tap, and the salads served here are fresh, large, and big enough for a meal. Also look for juicy burgers, fried fresh fish and shrimp, well-stuffed sandwiches, and such old English staples as shepherd's pie and bangers and mash.
