Madison Valley is one of Seattle's prettiest neighborhoods and is easily reached from downtown Seattle (just follow Madison Street from the edge of downtown). Here, in a stretch of a few blocks, you'll find half a dozen good restaurants, including the most authentic tapas restaurant in the city. From the sidewalk, The Harvest Vine appears to be little more than a tiny bar, but downstairs is a cozy wine cellar-like dining room. The menu consists exclusively of traditional Spanish small plates, and though prices can sometimes be quite high for what you get, it's still possible to piece together a very satisfying and economical meal. The menu changes daily, but you can always count on the cured meat plates and assorted cheeses. Also keep an eye out for such delicacies as Navarran pork sausage, air-cured duck breast, and grilled venison.
