Dine like a Maharaja at this elegant Indian restaurant deep in the French Concession. With an open kitchen, wood paneling, and Indian music lilting in the background, Vedas gets high marks for authentic and flavorful dishes from all over the subcontinent. Full tandoori choices await, including the more unusual tandoori broccoli, which is quite popular. Try too the Kesari chicken tikka, lamb Rogan josh, and the delightful mushroom methi (mushroom with fenugreek). Wash it all down with lots of strong masala tea. Service is attentive and considerate. If you're here on a Sunday, Vedas offers a tantalizing all you can eat brunch for a very reasonable ¥125 ($18/£9).
