The chefs still admire traditional British cookery, but they are also innovative at this dining spot that attracts both discerning locals and visitors. A relaxed mood prevails at this popular bistro, which scores with its pleasingly simple decor and capable service. Whenever possible, the cookery is based on local farm products, and, like the Mediterranean kitchen, the chefs pay particular homage to fresh vegetables, even serving a plate of grilled vegetables doused in lemon oil and flavored with rosemary, with an accompaniment of saffron-laced couscous. Pastas are a special feature, especially the cheese-studded tagliatelle with almond pesto and pumpkin, even candied eggplant added for good measure. The "puds" are made fresh daily, some of the happy tastes remembered from your childhood.
