A steakhouse and microbrewery in one -- a winning combination. Right on Main Street in Lake Placid, this recently renovated restaurant comes complete with Adirondack antiques, a fireplace, large bay windows overlooking Mirror Lake, and some of the best food in town. There's nothing shocking or inventive on the menu, just very good pastas, meat, and fish. Try the rack of ribs basted with the house amber-ale barbecue sauce, or the shrimp and scallops simmered in a garlic cream sauce with mushrooms and shallots, topped with puff pastry. You won't be able to ignore the wonderful ales: Each dish is matched with one of the house brews. The Ausable Wulff Red Ale is great.
