Vancouverites in need of great Italian food frequent this award-winning, second-story restaurant on Robson Street. The spacious dining room, done in a rustic Italian-villa style, surrounds an open kitchen built around a huge wood-fired oven and grill; the heated terrace is an equally pleasant dining and people-watching spot. The food at Cin Cin is exemplary, and if you're in the mood to sample a bit of everything, I'd recommend the fabulous five-course tasting menu. The dishes change monthly, but the tasting menu might begin with fresh buffalo mozzarella with rosso bruno tomatoes, go on to tortelli pasta stuffed with ricotta and chard, followed by wood-roasted fish and shellfish in fennel broth, and then venison loin served with chestnut and sweet garlic tortellini, after which a chestnut crème brûlée arrives. Mouthwatering a la carte possibilities include taglierini pasta with wood-roasted lobster, mushroom-dusted sablefish cooked in the wood-fired oven, Ahi tuna and beef tenderloin from the wood grill, and a delicious pizza with prosciutto, asparagus, fontina cheese, roasted garlic, and rosemary. The award-winning wine list is extensive, as is the selection of wines by the glass. Service is exemplary.
