Stowe has plenty of options for pub fare, but The Shed is the most consistently reliable. Since it opened more than 3 decades ago, this friendly, informal place has won fans by the sleigh-load with filling fare and feisty camaraderie (join the "Hall of Foam" by ordering a microbrew sampler). It has a bar area with popcorn and a good selection of beverages, ranging from craft beers brewed on the premises to frozen rum drinks to homemade root beer. The dining room has a chain-restaurant feel, but the bright solarium in the rear is a perfect spot to perch during sunny Sunday brunch. Meals are pub-fare eclectic: nachos, burgers, ribs, fish and chips, chicken, prime rib, shepherd's pie, simple seafood, sandwiches, and the like.
