Grab your best girl or guy and duck in here at lunch to sit at a table set against the storefront window. Watch busloads of tourists waiting in line to enter Ford's Theater across the street before turning your attention to the meal: croque-monsieur, the potage parisien (potato and leek soup with Gruyère and croutons), or perhaps a salad of avocado, beets, and celeriac rémoulade. As you sup, the chef might emerge from the kitchen to chat in French with regulars, or to greet friends stopping in to say hello. From time to time, the place may erupt in more French, much commotion, and many kisses. You and your companion enjoy each other's company and the French-ness of the restaurant, with its orangey red-washed walls and Provençal tablecloths. If you're here at dinner, choose the hanger steak and pommes frites, mussels in cream sauce, bouillabaisse, or just about anything representing the tastes of Languedoc, in southwestern France. An extensive wine list includes selections from the Languedoc region.
