Sushi-Ko was Washington's first sushi bar when it opened 33 years ago, and it remains the best. The sushi chefs are fun to watch -- try to sit at the sushi bar; if you do, ask chef Koji Terano to serve you his choice selections. You can expect superb sushi and sashimi standards, as well as daily specials, like a sea trout napoleon (diced sea trout layered btw. rice crackers), flounder sashimi with a black truffle sauce, and the delicately fried soft-shell crab (in season, spring and summer). Another option to capture the full range of tastes here: Order a bunch of the "small dishes," like the grilled baby octopus with mango sauce, or asparagus with smoked salmon and mustard dashi sauce. The tempuras and teriyakis are also excellent. And there's a long list of sakes, as well as burgundy wines and Japanese beer.
