A small but cavernous shop that extends back from a narrow street centrally located between Opera and the Gran Vía. It's run by an American (who is the owner of a well-fed cat called Petra -- hence the name) and has a wide choice of both new and secondhand English-language books. Here you can trade as well as buy. There's also a notice board and a regular coming and going of international visitors. Open Monday to Friday 11am to 2:30pm and 4:30 to 7:30pm; Saturday 10am to 2pm.
