Banks & Currency Exchange-- Canadia Bank, on the western side of the Old Market (tel. 063/964-808), and ANZ Royal Bank (566-570 Street Tep Vong tel. 023/726-900)are the best options for services. ANZ has several ATMs around town including one at the central branch and two 24-hour ATMs in the heart of the backpacker district just south of Red Piano Bar. You can change traveler's checks in some hotels and in any bank. Cambodia Commercial Bank (CCB), 130 Siwatha Blvd. (tel. 063/380-154), and Mekong Bank, 43 Siwatha Blvd. (tel. 063/964-417), can do credit card cash advances.
Emergency-- There's a tourist police station near the entrance to the temples. For local police, dial tel. 117. In the event of a medical emergency, contact International SOS Clinic in Phnom Penh (tel. 023/216-911).
Internet-- Small storefront offices surround the central market area. On the main street, try E-Café, No. 011 Siwatha Blvd., an air-conditioned facility with speedy connections, for just over $2 (£1.10) per hour, by far the best in town. Phsar Chas Netweb, on the northwest corner of the Old Market (tel. 012/461-849), is typical of the many others in the Old Market area. It's just $1 (£0.55) per hour for relatively speedy dial-up service, and they can connect you to your home country with Internet phone for next to nothing, or you can borrow a mobile phone for in-country calls. Almost all Internet shops can burn CDs if you need to empty your camera's memory card. Also try the shops just adjacent to the Red Piano. Most are open early to late (7am-midnight). If you have a wireless capable laptop, you can connect using prepaid PIC cards at the FCC restaurant, the Raffles Grand and Sofitel hotels, as well as at the Angkor What? bar among others. The Blue Pumpkin and Molly Malone's offer free wireless access to folks with their own laptops.
Post Office-- The post office is on Pokambor Avenue at riverside near the town center (next to the FCC). It's open daily 7am to 5:30pm and can handle foreign and domestic regular and parcel post.
Telephone-- The city code for Siem Reap is 63. Most hotels have international direct dialing (IDD), but many of the Internet cafes around the Old Market have better rates and offer callback service or Internet phone services.
